Ever since we first opened in 2002, it has been our goal to offer our Tampa Bay area customers excellent artisanal breads and pastries, made according to the grand old Italian tradition. All our baked goods are handmade on the premises using only natural ingredients and without artificial additives or preservatives. All breads are made with our own starter and a long leavening process, which produces a nice crust and a chewy texture. Every day we transform natural ingredients like real butter, fresh eggs and unbleached flour into a variety of flavorful breads, pizzas, focaccias, pastries, savory tarts, cookies and cakes.
New and trendy, with an old-world touch, our bakery is designed to be a spot for locals. Enticing aromas of buttery croissants and delicious herb-filled breads fill the bakery several times a day, inviting customers to pick up a treat and a favorite loaf for the evening meal. Service is casual. Customers may seat and enjoy their baked goods or take them "to go" on a picnic at one of our local parks or beaches.
Headbaker and owner Massimo Maviglia, a native of Avezzano, Italy, combines a passion for artisan baking with a strong entrepreneurial spirit. He first came to the US in 1989 and moved to the Tampa Bay area in 1996. Massimo holds the equivalent of a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from La Sapienza University in Rome, and a Master in International Management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management.
